Historically Incorrect Canoodling

In Historically Incorrect Canoodling, by Stephanie Coontz tells the true history of Valentine's Day and its meaning. Stephanie Canoodling was really focus on people commit adultery without loving nor having true feelings for the person and they don't value their marriage"s, that's why she wants us to know that Valentine's Day is for us to remember love.

In the article Historically Incorrect Canoodling had some important facts such as "Married couples vow to renew their love"  this quotes stood out to me because I agree with what Stephanie Coontz is saying because I do feel that their are many people that are just marrying people just to marry them
Stephanie Coontz explains that Valentine's Day expectations has changed overtime. This article also stated that back then  "marragies were arranged and it was mixed emotions" about that situation.

Well as for me I believe that Valentines Day is primarily for lovers. But, you can also celebrate Valentine's Day with your friends. Strengthen the bond of friendship with a simple act of love. Let your friend know how much you enjoy hes/hers companionship that's what I do on Valentine's Day since I'm not grown up to actually fall in love with an mate. And I do not agree with the marriages being "devaul" because their are people that actually valus their marriages and cares for their love mates.

This article reminds me of the valentines Day movies and T.V shows that comes on every valentines day. These two things shows pictures, such as what people do on valentines day for their love ones ,. I also be seeing peoples in my family buy special gifts for their love ones or if they dont buy them gifts they spent that whole day with them showing and telling their love ones how special they are to them.

I really dont have any questions I'm just a little concern on how people are really treating Valentines Day. Such as , are they using it for the right purpose or just because they feel that everyone else around them are doing things thats why they should do it or thats why they are doing it now days.

  1. You do a good job with parts 3 and 4, but unfortunately, you have missed the main point of the article. Coontz argues that people THINK we have separated love and sex from marriage, but in actuality we expect more from our marriages than ever.

So what do you think about the difficulty of combining love and marriage and the high rates of divorce? Do you expect to get married? If so, what do you expect your relationship to be like? If not, why not? 80
